How Dangerous is it if the cable breaks?

The Carpet Claw™  stores very little energy  in the cable. Unlike carpet removal machines that use clamps and rope if the the clamps let loose or the rope breaks they fly across the room.  If the "Claw"  lets loose on The Carpet Claw™ it only walks off the carpet a couple of inches at a time. The cable we use is an Airplane grade steel, the torque applied to this cable during the carpet removal process is minimal. The cable should inspected periodically for breaks in the strands.

My Carpet Claw's cable is tangled what caused this and how can I fix it?

Tangling of the cable is because the slack was not kept out of the line during start up operation. When this happens sometimes there is damage to other parts in the winch. Please send us your winch so that we can open it up and make sure that  the internal parts are not damaged.  It is recommended to replace the cable for optimum performance.
My Carpet Claw is not pulling out carpet the way it use to. I would like to get it to it's previous performance level, what do I need to do?

It sounds like your clutch is slipping. This is an easy adjustment if you have your manual there is a step by step section on clutch adjustment. We have our manual on line too. If you need help we would be happy to talk you through the clutch adjustment process.
The block with the bearings that the cable goes through is showing wear why is this happening, do I need to replace it?

Usually wear of the bearing block means two things... one the operator is pulling the buckle of the cable into the bearing block and not stopping at the recommended 10" before the buckle reaches the block. Or it can also be caused when the base of The Carpet Claw™ and the angle that the cabled claw are too great. Pulling straight on is best but not always possible.  Pulling at a greater than 25 degree angle is not recommended.
